Dale Buelow, President, E.A.
Dale founded Buelow Tax Service in 1972. He started life in Baraboo, Wisconsin, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has served his clients as an income tax consultant for over 40 years.. Dale is a member of several professional organizations and over his career has obtained numerous credentials and awards, including recognition from the Director of the Internal Revenue Service as being a top twenty scorer on the Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent Exam.
Dale believes in always trying to keep a promise and treating people the way they deserve to be treated. One of the things that Dale takes great pride in is the commitment of the Buelow Team to work for the best interest of the clients. He has set high standards of dedication and knowledge that his staff aspires to match.
Dale has been happily married to his wife, Cathy, for 18 years. They have two four legged sons at home, Jazz and Blues, who are frequently found napping in Dale’s office. Dale enjoys traveling, boating, and fishing and is often seen riding his bicycle to and from work.
Tax Consultants
Virginia Clayton, E.A.
Virginia has been a member of the Buelow family for 35 years! She started doing taxes with Dale in 1975. Virginia earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Buffalo in New York, where she grew up. Prior to coming to Florida, she worked in public accounting with a CPA firm in Aurora, New York for nine years.
Virginia feels that many of her clients are old friends, and we’re sure that many of them feel the same way about Virginia.
Harold Lloyd, E.A.
Harold began his career as a tax consultant in the Cleveland, Ohio area twelve years ago. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After migrating to Florida four years ago, he joined the Buelow Team and enjoys getting to know his clients and providing them with a quality service.
Family is very important to Harold and much of his spare time is dedicated to caring for his mother. When he does find free time, he can often be found playing an exotic Asian board game, known as Go.
Maryanne Hood, E.A.
Maryanne originates from Hempstead, New York, and graduated from Adelphi University with a Bachelor of Arts in Bilingual Education. She worked for the US Postal Service for 20 years in various locations around the country including Washington D.C. and Tampa, which brought her to Florida for the first time in 1978. After retiring from the Postal Service, she returned to Florida in 1995 and became a member of the Buelow Team in 1997. Maryanne loves her job here because she enjoys helping people and her patience and personality assist many of her clients through what is often a dreaded time of the year.
When not working at the office, she volunteers her time at St. Vincent DePaul and plays “mom” to her two dogs, Pebbles and BJ. She also enjoys doing crossword puzzles and Sudoku.
Al Gagnon, E.A.
Al comes to us from Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Finance. He was employed by a Fortune 500 bank in Boston for twenty years, where he worked as an Estate and Trust Officer. He is also a graduate of the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University and focused on trust taxes and administration for his bank clients. Al came to Florida and joined the Buelow Team in 1996.
Although he is usually the first one in the office each morning, Al does enjoy traveling and playing cards with friends around the pool in his free time.
Mike Guimond, Tax Consultant
Mike attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Education from Old Dominion University. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1975 and when he left active duty became a member of the US Navy Reserve where he
currently serves with the Navy Middle East Command, operating out of Mac Dill Air Force Base in Tampa. Mike holds the rank of Captain and has received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
Mike and his wife, Pat, have been happily married for 29 years and came to Florida in 1991. They have two wonderful daughters and a very handsome grandson that Mike enjoys spending time with after work. You might see one of his daughters at the reception desk when you visit the Buelow office.
Ann Marchak, E.A.
Ann’s tax preparation career has spanned over 30 years, during which time she operated her own tax office in Houston, Texas, served as an educator for one of the leading national tax preparation firms, and has been featured on public radio as an expert in her field, providing answers to difficult tax issues as a public service. Ann has been with the Buelow Team for nine years now.
Ann is a native of Dallas, Texas, and is happily married to her husband, Roy, of 17 years. Between them, they have 5 children, 17 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren that they enjoy spending time with. During her spare time, Ann also enjoys volunteering at the Caring Place Crisis Center and St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Don Coovert, CPA
Don started life in Muncie, Indiana. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Ball State University and a Masters of Accounting at Indiana University. He has worked as a Director of Tax for a coal company, managed the Tax Audit Division for the Indiana State Tax Commission, and served as President of a tax consulting firm. He has also served both as Chairman and on the Executive Committee of the Board of Taxpayer’s Federation of Illinois. Don moved to Florida in 1996 and joined the Buelow Team in 2002.
In the off season, Don enjoys the quiet life of the outdoors, spending much of his time in the Canadian wilderness. He also enjoys spending time with his 8 children and 20 grandchildren.
Heather M. Francis, E.A., CTRS
Heather has been a tax practitioner for over 15 years, spending the past nine years as part of the Buelow Team. In addition to meeting the tax needs of her clients, she heads the IRS Problem Resolution Department of Buelow Tax Service. Her aspiration for continuous knowledge has lead her to receive multiple professional designations, including the Certified Tax Resolutions Specialist title, of which she was one of the first 50 people in the United States earning this designation issued by the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers. Heather also takes great pride in her duties as an educator at the Buelow Tax School.
Heather was born in Niagara Falls, New York. She met her husband, Arthur, in Virginia, prior to settling in Florida in 2001. They now have three active teenage children at home, and Heather still finds time to perform as a flutist in the Edison State College Band and take a few college courses.
Jack Anderson, Tax Consultant
Jack is a native of Connecticut and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Boston University. He enjoyed a 35 year career working in accounting and finance as a CPA, which included serving as Chief Financial Officer for several different computer technology companies in New England and California. Jack has added his vast experience and talents to the Buelow Team since 2006.
Jack works hard to understand all the potential tax issues as they relate to each individual client and then make recommendations to optimize their present and future tax situation. He enjoys finding opportunities to improve his clients overall financial situation.
Ken Kondel, E.A.
Ken has been a member of the Buelow Team for seven years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences from Florida International University. He is a long time Florida resident and spent 25 years working as an Environmental Scientist for a local company.
In his spare time, Ken enjoys fishing and always loves a good joke, especially if it is about a fish that was, “This big”.
Linda Aloisi, E.A., Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor
Linda has been a tax consultant for over 19 years of which seven were spent working as the tax specialist at a CPA firm. Having earned her Enrolled Agent certification 16 years ago, she brings a solid background and wealth of knowledge with her to serve the needs of her clients. In addition to her duties as a tax consultant, she also acts as head of the Accounting Department and is in her second year as a member of the Buelow Team.
A native of Massachusetts, Linda moved to Florida from Mexico in 1999 with her husband, John, who she has been happily married to for 28 years. They have two children and two grandchildren and in her free time, she enjoys playing golf and sailing.
Marilyn Reid, Tax Consultant
Marilyn started doing taxes in 2001, became a member of the Buelow Team as an already seasoned tax consultant in 2006, and is currently preparing for the Enrolled Agent exam. She attended Mt. San Antonio College before starting a 29 year career in the airline industry, where she developed her expertise in customer service as a flight attendant.
She moved to Florida from Connecticut in 1988. Marilyn met her husband, Bill, a pilot, while working for the airlines, and they have been married for 19 years. They both enjoy playing golf and tennis and spending time traveling around the country in their RV when it is not tax season.
Accounting Department
Grace San, Accountant
Grace earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Yangon, Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, which is where she was born and raised. She has furthered her education since arriving in the US by completing a Certified Accounting Program at the Charlotte Technical Center. Her future plans are to earn a second Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Grace joined the Buelow team in 2009 and works in the accounting department using QuickBooks to prepare payroll taxes and profit and loss reports. She gained accounting experience in the hotel industry, where she also met her husband, Dave. Grace is dedicated to her job, working long hours, as needed. She hopes that one day her parents and brothers will be able to come from Myanmar to join her here.
Terri Edler, Sr. Accountant
Terri has been with the Buelow Team since 1993. Originally coming from Toledo, Ohio, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting, she moved to Florida in 1992. Terri has spent the last 32 years of her career working for accounting and tax firms doing everything from bookkeeping to financial statements. Terri also holds a Commission as a Notary Public.
Terri loves putting numbers together for financial statements. She also loves to bake, which the whole office appreciates, as they enjoy her wonderful birthday cakes for every birthday celebration in the office. She also makes hundreds of Christmas cookies for the holidays to share with friends and family.
Support Staff
Cathy Trosper Buelow, Building Administrator
Cathy has been a key part of the Buelow Team since 1995. She was born and raised in Indiana and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Purdue University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Personnel Management. She also holds an Associate of Arts in Nutrition and Food Management.
Cathy and Dale have been happily married for 18 years. Family and taking care of them, has always been important to Cathy, even during her childhood when she protected her little brother from bullies. He grew up to be 6’2”, so now she takes care of Dale, her mother, their two dogs, Blues and Jazz, and everyone at Buelow.
Cathy loves to cook, a passion inspired by her father, a former food service Sergeant and restauranteur. A gourmet cook, she would love to teach cooking classes, but secretly admits that her favorite food is pizza.
Joan Mathews, Sr. Executive Assistant
Joan has enjoyed being with the Buelow family for 14 years. She attended the State University of New York at Potsdam and was awarded a scholarship to Crane Conservatory of Music. Joan furthered her professional education through the American Bankers’ Association Banking Program, the Florida Trust School, and earned an Associate’s Degree in Banking and Finance from Edison Community College. Prior to joining the Buelow Team, she spent over 18 years working for two of the largest banks in the nation.
Joan and her husband, John, came to Florida in 1978. They have two children and three beautiful grandchildren. John and Joan love to spend their free time sailing, when Joan is not playing the piano.
Jackie Riola, Sr. Customer Service Representative
Jackie moved to Florida with her family in 1991 and has spent her entire working career with the Buelow Team, beginning in 2000. She is usually the first smiling face people see as they enter the building. Her educational achievements include a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Hodges University, an accomplishment that is esteemed.
Jackie and her husband, Jason, spend their free time pandering to their four year old son, Jay. For them, family is the best part of their lives. She also enjoys doing a little shopping, when she gets the chance. Jackie takes pride in greeting all of the Buelow clients and enjoys their pleasant exchanges.
Janet Shriver, Office Manager
Janet was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois, where she attended Aurora University earning her Certificate of Business Management. She has been with the Buelow Team for 18 years. In addition to the normal duties of Office Manager, Janet takes pride in duties as Network Administrator and keeping all of the Buelow Staff equipped with the latest technology.
Janet and her husband, Don, came to Florida in 1992, have been married for 29 years, and have raised three successful children. They are blessed with seven grandchildren. In her spare time, Janet likes to follow baseball, especially the career of her grandson, as he is a minor league pitcher.
Rosemarie Grubbs, Marketing Director
Rosemarie Grubbs is from Massachusetts, and has been working with the Buelow family since 2000. She works from our satellite office in Boston, Massachusetts. She is the mother of two daughters, grandmother of five grandchildren, and enjoys surrounding herself with her family.
Rose is our Marketing Director, and comes with an extensive background of various positions, such as a Senior Analyst, developing long-range-plans for corporations, Chief Accountant for MA Horticultural Society, Payroll Manager for Cheers of Boston, and various other positions she met challenges with.
Her interests include reading and currently attending New England Bible Institute.
Sharon Francis, Executive Assistant
Sharon joined the Buelow Team last January, coming to us with several years experience working as a bookkeeper for a CPA firm and a non-profit organization. She has completed an intensive income tax course with honors and continues to take advanced tax courses in addition to her many educational endeavors striving to cultivate her professional credentials.
Originally from New Jersey, Sharon moved to Florida in 1997. She has been married to her husband, Scott, for 12 years, and they have three active children at home, plus their dog, Molly. She is returning to the work force now that the youngest of her children has started school, although family remains the center piece of her life. Sharon loves to Jet Ski and hopes one day to go sky diving and try bungee jumping.
Sylvia Maher, Executive Secretary
On the Buelow Team since 1994, Sylvia brightens each day with her pleasant demeanor and positive attitude. Convinced that she did not want to spend her life in the small coal mining town of Windber, Pennsylvania, where she grew up, Sylvia went to Junior Business College to gain her skills. She has worked for various companies as an Executive Secretary from Washington D.C. to Michigan.
Sylvia moved to Florida with her husband, Bob, permanently in 1994. They have been happily married for 44 years, raised two children, and have two grandchildren. Her and Bob enjoy going to the movies and spending time at the beach.
Kevin Gosse, Executive Assistant
Kevin hails from Wisconsin, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before relocating to Florida in 2002, he had spent twelve years entertaining his love of nature operating his own business growing certified organic greenhouse tomatoes.
Kevin joined the Buelow team in January after attending Buelow Tax School and plans to get his E.A. certification in the future. Kevin’s business experience gives him a special focus on servicing and the needs of our clients. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, biking and is teaching himself Russian.
Seasonal Staff
Betty Cilluffo, Sr. Tax Review Specialist
Betty has been a tax professional since 1985, coming to the Buelow family in 1999, and now leads the team that ensures the quality and accuracy of every tax return. Not only does she make certain that every digit is in its right place on each return, she also makes sure that no one loses weight during tax season, as she is frequently bringing delicious treats for the entire team.
Betty and her husband, Joe, came down to Florida from Michigan in 1996. They have taken care of each other for 49 years now and have two daughters and two grandchildren. After tax season, Betty returns to her full-time job of spoiling her grandchildren. She spends time each summer visiting her family in Michigan, where they enjoy unique activities, like a tractor poker run.
John Riche, Tax Review Specialist
John spent thirty seven years in his first career as a trained Psychiatric Technician, working in hospital administration and then five years for an engineering firm in New York. Upon his retirement in 2005, he moved to Florida, becoming a member of the Buelow Team after taking an intensive tax class in 2006, kick starting his second career.
John grew up in historic Warren, Pennsylvania along the banks of the Allegheny River, where he met his wife of 27 years, Ingrid. They have been blessed with six children, 15 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. In his younger days, John enjoyed building and racing dirt track cars. Now, they enjoy a slower pace traveling the US and Canada in their RV.
Pat Cavanagh, Tax Review Specialist
Pat is a native of New Jersey and received her education at Seton Hall University, earning a Bacher of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Philosophy. The bulk of her working life was spent as a Certified Purchasing Manager for a transit authority and university in Maryland, which was a natural fit for her as she loves to shop and not have to pay for anything. She spent time as a real estate agent as well before joining the Buelow Team in 2007.
Pat has been married to her husband, Tom, for 25 years and between them they have 8 children, 4 grandchildren, and one more grandchild on the way. When she is not spending her free time visiting children, Pat also volunteers as a clerk for the Board of Elections during voting.
Sandra Stewart, Customer Service Representative
Sandra has slowly been working her way south over the course of her life, arriving in Florida in 2003 and joining the Buelow Team in 2009. Originally from Ontario, Canada, she lived in Michigan for 16 years, where she became a US citizen. Sandy has a diploma in Business Administration from Bryan & Stratton Business Institute in Buffalo, New York, and spent 25 years working as an Executive Administrative Assistant for a fortune 500 company.
Sandy and her husband, Brian, have been happily married for 26 years, which brought them three children and four beautiful grandchildren. Sandy loves her job and enjoys the interaction with the clients, answering their questions, and making popcorn. In her spare time, she likes to play golf and volunteer for Hospice Care.
